Imam Mohd. Amien Ahmed hails from Bokaap (Upper Town), Cape Town. He is a former Imam at Owwal-Masjid, the historic first mosque in Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Muslim community in South Africa, at nearly the southernmost tip of the continent, traces back to the noble lineage of Shaykh Yusuf of Macassar - Indonesia, who migrated to South Africa more than 300 years ago. Imam Amien has been in Australia close to 20 years, and is a former Imam of Minto Mosque Campbeltown. He is also the Arabic/Islamic Studies teacher as well as Principal & Administrator at Qibla College Campbelltown and still active in Imamate in the broader Sydney community. Imam is also a qualified Arabic/Islamic Studies teacher as well as a former Administrator/ Principal at the former Qibla College Campbelltown. Very active amongst diverse communities in the Macarthur Liverpool regions, he also currently serves the broader community in consultation and in counselling matters on a daily basis, as a Chaplain, Mentor and Social Educator- teaching and training. He is an ardent community leader and freelance motivational speaker. He holds a Bachelor of Arabic & Islamic Studies, and a Masters in Language & Linguistics from the University of New South Wales.
